It’s Here: Short Interest Data Tool

Here’s my tool to download the Short Interest data from Yahoo for multiple stock symbols:

Download Here

It’s pre-loaded with the most recent S&P500 stocks and data (as of Sep 8, 2009). You’ll need to enable macros to use the tool. The macro takes about 2 seconds per ticker to run, so the S&P 500 takes about 17 minutes.

This is “Panhandle-ware”: If you feel it’s valuable, hit the donate button and pay what you think it’s worth.

how do you enable the macros?

  2. Prospectus Says:

    Jason,

You need to set your macro security in Excel. See here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel/HP011195791033.aspx

Hey Prospectus, even though I didn’t buy this specific offering, I really enjoy your site and work. Just wanted to pop in and say what’s up, and thank you for your generous coding, which has helped me in my very meagre[sic] understanding of thinkscript.

  5. Prospectus Says:

Thanks, Danny! I appreciate that very much. I also owe a lot to you and the iBC crew for helping me on the investing front. Thanks again. 🙂

just downloaded the tool and i get a message that object doesn’t support this property or method after it pulls the data for each symbol. any ideas? thx

  7. Prospectus Says:

EQ: if you hit debug, what line of code is highlighted? Also, what version of excel are you running? One more: hit alt-F11 to open VBA editor, then from the top menu, choose tools, references and tell me what is checked, and if anything has “missing” next to it.

  8. Quentin Says:

I’m running Excel 2000…..should it work ok in that?

  9. Prospectus Says:

    Quentin,

It should work fine, but it may not. Let me know if you have issues with it and I can try to make it backwards compatible (if it isn’t already).

  10. jason Says:

how can i contact you directly?

  11. Prospectus Says:

    Jason,
